Wooden Waves is a bespoke timber installation designed for the presidential lounge at Orange Bridge HQ. Comprising 46 curved plywood panels extending seamlessly from wall to ceiling, the installation integrates soft LED lighting, acoustic treatment and product displays.
Each panel is laser-cut from 3mm birch plywood using a parametric lattice-hinge pattern, allowing flat sheets to bend into complex 3D forms without extensive supporting structures. Over 100 prototypes were tested to refine the curvature, while topology-optimised supports secure the panels through interlocking connections without glue.
Fabricated and pre-assembled at FabPub in London, the panels were transported flat-packed and folded on-site. The untreated plywood reveals natural textures and laser-burn gradients, creating a warm, flowing architectural surface.
